A fine profession, a comfortable life and then: happenstance. A weekend trip to an arts fair in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, an encounter with artist Edie Dismuke, a developing friendship that fueled my creativity and I began Post-a-Quote in 1991, first as a hobby and then as a full-time business. My bliss has always been reading. When my reading outstripped my memory I decided to write down all of the advice, philosophy and humor writers were giving me so that I could find it when I wanted it and share it with others. So, much of Post-a-Quote was in place before I ever knew about any open door. What distinguishes Post-a-Quote from all other quotation based card lines is the breadth and depth of my collection. I have no closed quotation list or set number of annual designs. The cards and list are in constant flux. All my cards are handmade, handwritten and handsigned. Why handwritten and not printed? The quick answer is because I want to do it that way. The real answer is that it is one more way for me to interact with the written word. And that is what I hope people who buy my cards do also.
